Prince (the singer) died today, but nobody cares about the real issues...Hi, so today, Prince (the singer) died, and my news feed if just full of people caring so much and getting so upset about his death. This is making me crazy! Not that an artist's life is worth nothing, but people die and his music will live on for ever. Prince's death does not affect people personally, why are they getting so upset about this when there are real issues that affect all of us going on in the world and nobody cares. As a matter of fact, when you bring up real issues, people get offended or turn a blind eye. After what just happened in the New York primaries (injustice in the DNC), the Panama papers, climate change, poisoned food, poisoned water, earthquakes killing hundreds in Peru and Japan, children starving, 90% of the coral dying in the Pacific Ocean and yet people don't even care about any of this stuff and instead get so upset about Prince's death. This just makes me crazy! The Upside? This display is just further proof to me that popular music is one really good way to penetrate into people's minds and consciousness on a mass scale. Right now musicians are not really using that power for good (necessarily), and I hope if there is anything I can do in the future to affect music and the music industry via my husband and my own good work, then I am going to do it to continue to try to get the truth out to the masses. The people need to be reached somehow. O.K. vent over.
